Art History

For your final project, I am asking you to develop a vision and formulate a proposal for an exhibit revolving around one of the central themes in our course and featuring 12 objects discussed in class. Your final product will take the form of an exhibit proposal consisting of an essay introducing the exhibit and a mini catalogue listing your objects with pictures, metadata, and a brief explanation of how each object contributes to the exhibits concept.
You will develop your project in the following stages:

By Sunday, November 21, select 12 objects that speak particularly forcefully to you. Situate these objects on a timeline and on a map to visualize any temporal and spatial relations between them. Formulate a theme for your exhibit and formulate specific questions that you would like to pursue. (10 points)
By Sunday, December 5, incorporate any feedback that you will have received on your initial questions as well as the research that you will have done in the preceding two weeks into one ample paragraph presenting your exhibit concept. Accompany this paragraph by an annotated bibliography of 5 scholarly sources related to the theme of your exhibit. For a full understanding of what constitutes a scholarly source, please consult the attached Bibliography Guidelines. (10 points)
By Thursday, December 16, submit your essay and catalogue. Your essay should be between 900 and 1200 words long and feature a bibliography (not annotated!) listing each and every source youve consulted during your research and writing. You need to reference each and every source youve consulted in the body of your essay as well. You may choose to accompany your essay with appropriate images. Your essay will be followed by a catalogue featuring your 12 objects with pictures, metadata (maker, title, date, materials), and a brief explanation (1-2 sentences max) of how each object corroborates your project. (20 points)
