CHD 265 – Nurturing, Responsive, and Effective Interactions and Engaging Environments
How did you use your knowledge of child development to create a healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging learning environment for each child (including curriculum, interactions, teaching practices, and learning materials)? (NAEYC Standard 1c) **If youre in someone elses classroom, and you werent able to make any changes, describe what you would have done.

In your explanation, you may use pictures along with a written explanation to show how your environment reflects these four critical features.
1.     First, the environment is healthythat is, you are promoting young childrens physical and mental health, safety, and sense of security. 
2.     Second, the environment reflects respectfor each child as a feeling, thinking individual and then for each childs culture, home language, individual abilities or disabilities, family context, and community.
3.     Third, the learning environment is supportiveyou are demonstrating your belief in young childrens ability to learn, and you are using your understanding of early childhood development to help each child understand and make meaning from her or his experiences through play, teachable moments, and guided explorations. 
4.     Finally, the learning environment is appropriately challengingin other words, you applied your knowledge of contemporary theory and research to create a learning environment that provides achievable and stretching experiences for each childincluding children with special abilities and children with disabilities or developmental delays.
