Reader Response 2

This week’s reader response consists of TWO questions/prompts you must answer to receive full credit for the assignment. Each response must be between 300-500 words.  You may submit this response as two separate Word documents or you may compose them on one Word document separating each question in an organized and clear manner. Failure to submit the reading responses will result in a grade of “0” for each response missed. Quote from the text to strengthen your argument, explaining the importance of those quotations. 1. What elements of “local color” does Twain use in “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County? Do you find them effective? You can even explore the comic effect of his story.
2. In “The Muse’s Tragedy,” how does Wharton characterize the role of women? What features stand out in her depictions of relationships between men and women? How are women portrayed? You are welcome to incorporate the Villa d’Este garden and quotation from my Edith Wharton online handout. Put (Wright) in the in-text citation.
